Staff Profile

Erin graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Emergency Medicine, and a Certificate in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. As part of her studies Erin trained and worked as a Paramedic. She spent her time in college studying the benefits of western and traditional Medicines through two traditional medicine focused internships in Arusha, Tanzania, focusing on Non-profit development and traditional Maasai medicine, and Panahachel, Guatemala, focusing on traditional Mayan medicine and the fair trade market. It was during these experiences that her passion for international learning blossomed.

After graduation she continued her studies at Boston University, and graduated with a Master of Science in Healthcare Emergency Management. During her time at Boston University she discovered the field of International Health, Safety and Security in Higher Education through an internship with Boston University. After graduation she pursued this field with a job at the University of Illinois as their Coordinator for International Safety and Security.

Erin was overjoyed to join the SFS Safety and Student Life Team in August 2018. Her experiences abroad have changed her world perspective, and she is excited to work to help make sure that students have the opportunity to have those same transformative and meaningful experiences.
