Joanna is a biology nerd fascinated with the living world, and an educator with a passion for experiential learning. Sparked by her first study abroad trip to Costa Rica (with SFS!), she has continued to travel, teach, and study around the world. Jo recently completed her Masters in Biology, working with multiple international research organizations, to learn about conservation biology, community based conservation and education around the globe. She is committed to equity in education and advancing environmental literacy, and has spent the last few years in San Francisco, working with an education non-profit that teaches science in public school gardens. She spends her summers with high school students taking on environmental leadership challenges, including studying Urban Ecosystems and Development in the Ecuadorian Amazon, and is excited to get back in the field with students in Peru!
