Lorena was born and raised in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, where she grew up hiking in the forests of the Appalachian Mountains. She studied Sociology & Anthropology, Spanish, and Philosophy at Messiah College and graduated in May 2019. Lorena spent her junior year of college studying abroad in Lima, Peru, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. While in South America, she volunteered on organic farms in Peru and Colombia through the Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) network and learned about cacao, coffee, and jackfruit production. At the end of her year abroad, she conducted a month of anthropological fieldwork in an indigenous community in Peru, which she used to write her Senior Thesis on indigenous knowledge. In her free time, Lorena enjoys hiking, practicing yoga, and reading a good book.
