Ormelio manages site operations at SFS’s field station in Bocas del Toro, Panama. He coordinates the regular maintenance of SFS vehicles and boats, manages procurement of supplies, oversees expense accounting, tracks inventory, assists with coordinating field excursions, and arranges for routine repair of SFS assets. Ormelio is also a skilled carpenter in his own right. Born and raised in the community of Boca del Drago on the island of Colon, Ormelio also possesses great knowledge of the people, culture, and local biodiversity. When not managing operations, Ormelio assists with community engagement and identifying opportunities for cultural exchange between SFS students and Panamanians. He also accompanies students and faculty on field trips to assist with species identification and data collection.
