Faculty Profile

I was born and raised in Phnom Penh, then I moved to Siem Reap in 2010, where I began my fulltime academic career. I monitored and evaluated academic program at a local university, Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia- Siem Reap Campus. My role was to ensure quality assurance reached national standard of academic accreditation. From 2017 involved in sustainability program of Southeast Asia Foundation, which I co-hosting and co-coaching NGO leaders on leadership

I was trained in the field of sustainable development, entrepreneurship and management. I have a great passion in gender empowerment in education and environmental conservation. I obtained my graduated in Ecological Economics and Industrial Management at Mälardalen University in Västerås, Sweden. My previous research focused on female entrepreneurship in Cambodia to identify the life changes and economic development made possible when more girls can access to education (2007). My earlier study concentrated on sustainable tourism in Cambodia and Thailand (2006).

Inspired by my academic pursuits and life experiences, my research interest is on human security, social welfare, and gender equity & advocacy research. I am a working on my PhD in ASEAN studies at Naresuan University in Thailand. My research focuses on low skill migrant workers. I want to understand the attitude and behavior change of low skill migrant workers in the context of social development toward poverty elimination and promoting gender equality through academic contribution and grassroots activities.

Over the last 10 years I have been teaching gender studies, human rights, and business communication to undergraduate students. Beside classroom contact hours, I like to connect students to community outreach and service learning. I engage my students to apply class theories in their everyday life, as well as increase community outreach impact toward underprivileged children in rural areas and city youth who have difficulty in choosing a career path. I have been participated with various charities, NGO networks and business groups.
