B.S. in Biology
Wittenberg University (OH, USA)
Tanzania (Spring '16)
Sydney has always been passionate about connecting people with nature. She earned a B.S. in Biology from Wittenberg University, where she did research in conservation genetics and freshwater ecology. After studying in Tanzania through SFS in 2016, she was motivated to continue to explore the world around her, and help create fun, challenging, and inspiring experiences for others. After graduating, Sydney moved to Bend, Oregon where she became a Field Instructor for Evoke Therapy Programs. While there, she helped facilitate healing experiences for adolescents and adults through backpacking, camping, hiking, and teaching wilderness skills; like creating fire with a bow drill. When Sydney wasn’t working, she was volunteering at Chimps Inc. Chimpanzee Sanctuary, or helping to write grants for Pan African Sanctuary Alliance.
In her free time, Sydney enjoys running, rock climbing, crafting, yoga, taking naps, and eating pizza. She is so excited to work for SFS, and to help give students a rewarding study abroad experience like she had!
