Determining how to request your transcript
Depending on your home school requirements at the time of your study abroad, you may have received credit either directly from SFS or from one of our schools of record. If you received credit through the University of Minnesota, Boston University, or Northeastern University, please use the instructions below to request both official and unofficial transcripts directly from them.

If you are a student from a school that accepted SFS direct credit and you received credit directly from your home school, please complete the
SFS Alumni Transcript Inquiry Form. Once we have confirmed you received direct credit from SFS, you will receive a link and instructions on how to order your transcript through Parchment, an electronic transcript delivery service.
Please note: At this time, SFS does not offer unofficial transcripts. There is a $10 processing fee for each SFS official transcript, paid through Parchment.

Please make your transcript request directly from the University of Minnesota (UMN).
Requesting an official transcript from UMN
1. Go to the University of Minnesota
transcripts page.
2. Click "Order an Official Transcript," which will open a new tab to the University of Minnesota's Parchment page for ordering official transcripts.
3. Unless you already have an active UMN internet ID, click "Create an Account."
4. Fill out the form with all required information
If a field is not required, you do not need to fill in the requested information.
In the "Year Graduated or Year Last Attended" space, put the calendar year corresponding to your term abroad.
In the “Dates Attended” space, put the calendar year corresponding to your term abroad in both boxes.
In the "Campus Attended" space, write "Twin Cities" (not the study abroad location).
Create login details by using an email address (either personal or from your home institution) and entering a password. Save these details to login to UMN Parchment in the future.
Verify the information and hit the “Submit” button.
5. You have successfully created a UMN Parchment account. Follow the prompts to order copies of your official UMN transcript and have them sent to your school, employer, personal address, etc. You will need to pay a fee to order an Official UMN Transcript.
Requesting an Unofficial Transcript from UMN
1. Go to the University of Minnesota
transcripts page.
2. If you know your University of Minnesota email and password, you can log into the MyU portal. If that is the case, proceed to step 4.
3. If you do not know your University of Minnesota email and password, contact the UMN Technology Helpline at 612-301-4357 to activate your University of Minnesota Internet ID and password.
Tell them that you are a non-UMN student who participated in a study abroad program. You will be asked to validate certain pieces of information, including but not limited to your Social Security number, birth date, and address at the time of your enrollment.
They may ask for your University of Minnesota student ID. It is likely that you do not know that information, but the Technology Helpline should be able to activate your account without this information.
Once you receive confirmation that your ID is activated, return to step 1 to log in.
4. Once you have signed into the MyU portal, click the “Academics” tab on the left-hand side of the home screen. The “Academics” tab will default to “My Classes.”
5. Click into either “Degree Progress” or “Grades” along the top of the Academics page. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the link for “Unofficial Transcript.”
6. From the “Unofficial Transcript” page, be sure to select “Twin Cities/Rochester” as the Academic Institution. There will be only one option under the report type. Click “View Report” to generate your unofficial transcript.

Transcript processing time
Depending on where your request must be made, processing times will vary.
Transcript requests made through SFS are generally processed within five business days. If your request will be made through Northeastern University, Boston University, or the University of Minnesota, please consult the appropriate school’s website for standard processing times in order to ensure adequate time for your request to be processed.
