Staff Profile
I studied at the University of Connecticut where I double majored in Geography & Maritime Studies – merging the two areas of focus to the impacts of climate change on the ocean. I came to SFS TCI in January 2020 to complete the program as a second semester senior. Unfortunately, due to COVID my time living at the center was cut short and finished remotely. My experience with SFS gave me the confidence to go on and not only further my career in diving but to challenge myself to step outside of my comfort zone.
In the fall of 2020, I completed a marine conservation internship with Reef Environmental Education Foundation in Key Largo, Florida. After leaving Key Largo I moved to the west side of Maui at the start of the 2021. In the historic town of Lahaina I was able to develop a deep sense of community. Here I became a PADI open water scuba instructor and taught diving primarily out of the westside. While on Maui I have also worked as a naturalist with the Hawaii Wildlife Fund as well as Pacwhale Eco-Adventures. Being apart of someone taking their first breath underwater, witnessing a family react to seeing a humpback whale breach for the first time, leading an energetic discussion to a youth group on the differences between sea turtle species are all incredibly rewarding experiences. I’m stoked to be apart of the SFS TCI CMRS team.
Outside of the water I enjoy making pottery, yoga, hiking, live music, and traveling.
