Staff Profile

Tina is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, born in Germany but raised on the island of Lošinj in Croatia. As an islander she grew up surrounded by marine environment. She completed her studies at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb in 2020, where she graduated at the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. After clinical practice and graduation, she was employed at the Blue World Institute of Marine Research and Conservation in 2021. Tina is responsible for providing veterinary care in the Sea Turtle Rescue Centre, in Sunny Bay, Mali Lošinj. She also participates in the scientific research of large marine vertebrates, including small cetaceans and sea turtles, as well as postmortem examinations and educational programs. Since 2022 she has participated in several international training schools with focus on aquatic animal health. This includes training on the Marine Mammal Medic Course at the University of Padua, Italy, and internships at the Lampedusa Sea Turtle Rescue Centre, Italy and the Oceanographic Foundation, Spain.
