For Today, Goodbye and For Tomorrow, Good Luck

Australia

The last couple of days have been quite an emotional rollercoaster for everyone. As our time in Australia was coming to an end, we spent a lot of time reminiscing and reflecting on the past four weeks.

As I look back on the last month, I can’t help but smile. This experience truly has been a once in a lifetime opportunity that I will never forget. I got the opportunity to learn about so many aspects of the Australian rainforest; from surveying people in the Daintree, to measuring trees, to catching cane toads, and even sitting in lectures. This has truly been an amazing learning experience.

The most rewarding part of the last month though was getting to know some really great people. I made friends from all across the United States and I know that we will stay in touch for a long time. I cannot thank everyone enough for making the past four weeks incredible. I have truly enjoyed getting to know everyone here at SFS, staff included. I can’t imagine spending the last month with anyone else.

It’s hard to believe the time has come for us to leave and go back to our respective parts of the US. I hope that everyone here has enjoyed this experience as much as I have. I wish nothing but the best for my fellow students so for today, goodbye and for tomorrow, good luck!
