Celebrating Cultures
This week all staff and students at the SFS Center for Marine Resource Studies (CMRS) on South Caicos got together with the community to celebrate culture day, organized by the Soroptimists. Everyone proudly participated and represented their home countries on this day. We had an SFS international team representing the US, Germany, Portugal, France, Switzerland and Jamaica. This big day started off with a float parade followed by a presentation of dishes and national anthems from the different nationalities in the South Caicos community. Since a great celebration cannot involve only food, we also had a local band playing music.

At CMRS, we started Halloween earlier where all the staff, students and even our canine friends used their imagination to create their best costumes for the costume contest. Everyone was so excited to dress up and had a really good time. Here, we had all kinds of costumes including scarecrows, Spongebob, anglerfish, vikings, pirates, lion king, Scooby-Doo, etc. By the end of the night, we also had a pumpkin carving activity and the results were spooky.
