How to Apply to an SFS Program

When applying to a study abroad program, there are lots of moving parts to keep track of. Follow the steps below to make sure you don’t miss anything!

Before You Apply:

  • Check with your home school for their requirements and deadlines. You should start the conversation with your home school study abroad office to discuss credit transfer, approved programs, financial aid, and any internal application/process.
  • Check the SFS eligibility requirements, which can be found on the Admissions Overview page.
  • Discuss SFS with your family, friends, pet, coach, and anyone else in your support network.
  • Apply for or renew your passport—it’s good to have even if you don’t study abroad with SFS!
  • Review the costs for your program and learn more about the SFS financial aid process.

SFS plans to resume programming this coming June with our Summer 2021 sessions. SFS has made several adjustments to our Summer 2021 program lineup including shifting some programs originally scheduled for Summer I to Summer II and cancelling several programs. You can check out the current Summer 2021 program lineup here. For Fall 2021, SFS will be offering all program locations except for Peru which will resume programming in Spring 2022.

For additional updates regarding refunds and program adjustments due to the pandemic, visit our COVID-19 updates page. Due to our displaced Summer 2020, Fall 2020, Winter 2021 and Spring 2021 students, we recommend that students apply early for Summer 2021 and Fall 2021.
