Profile

Originally from Silver Spring, MD, I spent my undergraduate years in Maine attending Bates College. While in college I studied abroad in Kenya and Tanzania (back when the program involved living at both sites), which made me fall in love with global health.

After college I took three years off to work as a clinical research coordinator in a DC burn unit, and later for an NGO in Uganda training and maintaining a network of community health workers. My interest in global health continued during medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where I had the opportunity to conduct research regarding emergency care delivery in Nigeria, before matching in Oakland for Pediatric residency.

At Children’s Hospital Oakland, I joined the Global Health pathway and traveled to Malawi in my third year to conduct research on the triage and management of children presenting with non-malarial fever. I was selected to complete a chief year in Oakland, after which I am planning on applying into fellowship for Emergency Medicine.

When I am not in the hospital, I enjoy spending time outside with my pup Matty, tending to my houseplants, playing board games with friends, doing yoga and eating delicious food.

Favorite SFS Memory: Too many to count! Watching a lion stalk and take down a zebra on safari. Dancing in the back of a safari car. Our crew had the absolute best time together – we dressed up as each other for Halloween, organized site wide Banda wars, and cooked a beautiful Thanksgiving together. I am still friends with almost half the program to this day.
