Profile

Shannon graduated from Bowdoin with a dual major in Environmental Studies and Earth & Oceanographic Science and minor in Economics in 2018 and began her career in litigation consulting. While always passionate about entering the sustainability field, Shannon’s path was not linear. She transitioned from litigation consulting to energy consulting and eventually into GHG accounting, building on both her environmental knowledge and technical skills. Shannon’s commitment to preserving natural habitats, inspired by her time at SFS South Caicos, has been a driving force throughout her career.

Currently, Shannon serves as the Global Corporate Sustainability Manager at Samsonite Group in Massachusetts. In this role, she manages sustainability reporting requirements and spearheads strategies to enhance the sustainability of the company’s products and operations. Shannon’s goal is to continue making a significant impact on the environment while educating others about the importance of sustainability.

Beyond her professional life, Shannon is an avid outdoor enthusiast. Although she no longer has access to the world-class scuba diving of South Caicos, she spends her free time hiking, skiing, mountain biking, surfing, and engaging in other outdoor activities. Shannon looks forward to continuing to build her SFS network and is always eager to connect with others who share her passion for sustainability.

Favorite SFS Memory: One of the most unforgettable and life-changing experiences I had at SFS South Caicos was during a night dive. We were immersed in an environment that pushed us beyond our comfort zone, a place where we were clearly not the most powerful creatures but simply guests in another’s habitat. Earlier in the dive, we passed through ‘Shark Alley,’ spotting a few sharks, but the true magic came later. As we continued, a group of rays, drawn to our lights, began to circle and glide around us at incredible speeds that some of us felt as though we were being spun upside down. Their graceful movements were so mesmerizing and it was an awe-inspiring, surreal moment—just one of many etched forever in my memory from that little island.
