Profile
As a Geology major at James Madison University, I studied with SFS in Australia the summer between my freshman and sophomore year. After graduation, I worked in the water resource field, as a water laboratory analyst and then a hydrologic technician working under a Research Hydrologist with the US Forest Service.
After some time, I earned a PhD in Environmental Science from Florida A & M University and am now back in a laboratory setting analyzing water. Throughout school and my career, I have woven in my passion for cave and karst science. I have published research in cave and karst hydrology and geochemistry, including mercury concentrations in bat guano in caves. I am currently working on tardigrades (water bears) in cave and karst.
Favorite SFS Memory: Swimming with classmates in the ocean at Cairns. I was scared of sharks, but I figured I was safe if I stayed in the middle of the group!
