Profile
Growing up in rural Connecticut, Lee has always been interested in the great outdoors and science, though it wasn’t until his experience with SFS in the Turks and Caicos in 2009 that he found his true passion in marine science.
His experience with SFS inspired him to follow that path and work for the National Park Service’s Inventory and Monitoring Division, studying coral, fish, lobster, and seagrass communities in several parks throughout Florida and the Caribbean.
He is currently the Fish Biologist for the program, stationed on St. John in the US Virgin Islands, along with his wife Sara who is a boat captain and marine scientist herself. Their love for fish in particular spurred an interest in underwater photography and taxonomy, taken them on several other research expeditions to improve the taxonomic knowledge of marine fishes in the Revillagigedos, Midriff Islands, Galapagos, Tanzania, and of course, here at home in the US Virgin Islands.
Lee credits the experience with SFS as the spark that began him down this career path that he loves!
