Jambo! I can’t believe that we have been in Tanzania for over four weeks. This is truly an experience of a lifetime and it is going by too quickly.

On Friday we went to Ngorongoro Crater which is a part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. A friend described this place as a bowl full of Animal Crackers and that is exactly what it is like. After we descended into the Crater, we drove around the grasslands and were immediately surrounded by zebras, wildebeest, and buffalo.

width=We stopped for lunch by the hippo pool and got to see the hippos popping up and down for air. We also saw numerous hyenas napping in the sun and chasing after wildebeest.

The highlight of the day was seeing a female lion walk right next to our Landcruiser. She appeared to be getting ready to hunt since she was hunched down and there was a herd of zebra nearby.

As we ascended to the rim of the Crater at the end of the day we got a gorgeous view of the entire landscape which was a perfect way to conclude this adventure. Visiting Ngorongoro Crater was truly a dream come true and an experience I will never forget.
