Exploring Above and Below the Waves

Turks and Caicos Islands

We had a great outreach this Saturday with our South Caicos Snorkel Club. Sightings included snappers, groupers, barracudas and even Eagle rays! Everyone had an amazing time in the beautiful turquoise water of Admiral’s aquarium.

Some survivors of the lobster season, observed during a dive at the Plane dive site with the students. It seems like our marine protected area (MPA) has benefited these guys 🙂

Congratulations to all our Advanced Open Water (AOW) students for completing their certification! During this last class, AOW participants borrowed cameras and worked on their photography skills. It was a great success, lot of beautiful pictures!

We recently embarked on our field trip to the other islands of the TCI. It was an early morning start to get to Middle and North Caicos. On Middle Caicos, we discovered Mudjin beach, a beautiful beach surrounded by impressive cliffs. We enjoyed a nice picnic on the beach and cooled off with a little swim!

On North Caicos, we visited the Wades Green plantation with our fantastic guide Brian Naqqi Manco. He showed us around the property and explained to us the history of the TCI since the 1700’s. The day ended with s’mores and a bonfire.
