Game Drive in Lake Manyara National Park

Tanzania

Our first game drive day in Lake Manyara National Park was about two weeks ago. It was an incredible day, although our car did get stuck in the mud (briefly).

Within the first ten minutes of driving through the park, we drove by a herd of elephants that were within 20 feet of the car, and for the first time for many of us, we realized we were actually in Africa! We saw so many amazing animals throughout the rest of the day, including lions, zebras, giraffes, hippos, blue monkeys, and olive baboons. Our assignment for Wildlife Ecology had us observing baboons throughout the day, recording their behaviors and associations with other animal species within the park.

On Friday, we leave for a five-day expedition to Tarangire National Park. After our extraordinary day in Lake Manyara National Park, we are all so excited to see what the other national parks have to offer!
