Program: Sustainable Development Studies, Costa Rica

Half way through October and it is difficult to believe we are half way through our classes and almost ready for Directed Research. We have already covered topics ranging from global climate change to genetically modified crops to socioeconomic impacts of eco-tourism.

width= Last weekend was time for us to leave The SFS Center for Sustainable Development Studies for the weekend and stay with host families in Atenas. To celebrate and thank them we hosted later in the week a dinner, talent show, and dance.

Midterms came and went before the first weekend away, and many have brought home stories of relaxation on the ocean beach in Quepos, thrilling zip-lining in the forest canopy near Lake Arenal, and other fun times.

It was a much-needed break after a full schedule of tests and events! The program is running quickly along with a visit to an organic coffee farm and getting ready for a field trip to El Sur. Wish us luck!
