It takes commitment and courage to delve into unfamiliar and complicated topics, and this semester’s students have definitely risen to the challenge. We’ve investigated tree kangaroos and their responses to odours of different predators, unravelled mysteries of cane toad shelters and lung nematodes, utilized the Maxent program to model climate change and corridor use in the Wet Tropics, explored local perceptions of sustainability and environmental education in the Tablelands, and discovered fascinating patterns regarding the spatial distribution of rainforest trees and natural recruits in restoration sites. I am impressed at the high level of understanding the students have achieved with very technical literature. Much of their research is not only exciting now, but will be very useful for future researchers.  It has been a busy several weeks and it has clearly paid off in the quality of work produced.

It has been a pleasure to work with this group and all of the faculty and staff are sad to see them go. The students have excelled at working in teams and have developed a cohesive and positive social dynamic that has been a thrill to be a part of. We see them off with great confidence that they will succeed in their future endeavours.
