A hammerhead shark and humpback whales were spotted along the reef wall and SFS students were found exploring mangrove habitat and snorkeling through seagrass meadows. This week the students completed their first marine organism ID test on the inhabitants of mangrove and seagrass habitats, followed by an assessment of seagrass density and total economic value of a neighboring bay. Needless to say everyone is getting well-acquainted with our boats and building their sea legs for the semester. Stay tuned for another salty, sandy week!
