Each year, SFS runs a student photo contest featuring photos from our programs across the world. Students can submit photos to four separate categories, with cash prizes awarded to the winning shots. Here is the information for our 2022-2023 contest. The submission form can be found at the bottom of this page.

Community
Show us the people from the local community who shared their traditions, knowledge, and homes with you, and generally contributed to an amazing study abroad experience.
Floura and Fauna
Lions, eagle rays, and strangler figs, oh my! Send us shots of your non-human friends in the field. Yes, we want to see the flora too!
In the Field
Show us your SFS program in action! Capture what it’s like to be out in the field with SFS – share photos of your fellow students and SFS faculty members hard at work and having fun.
Landscape
SFS programs are located in some of the most remote and beautiful corners of the world. We want to see the mountains, forests, and oceans that inspired you.
Prizes
- Four winners (one in each category) will receive a $50 Visa gift card. The winning photo is chosen by a panel of SFS staff judges. Each student is restricted to winning only one category.
- One Grand Prize winner will receive a $200 Visa gift card. The winning photo is chosen by a panel of SFS staff judges.
rules and Guidelines
- All photos must have been taken during the 2022-2023 academic year (Fall 2022, Winter 2023, Spring 2023, and Summer 2023), and they must be submitted no later than August 31, 2023. The contest runs from September 1, 2022, through August 31, 2023. Winners will be notified in Fall 2023.
- Photos must have been taken by you. You cannot submit a photo taken by someone else, even if you are in the photo.
- You must have received informed consent from all individuals in the photographs submitted to this contest.
- Photos must be submitted at the highest resolution possible, with a minimum file size of 500kB (the submission form will not accept smaller files). If they are too low quality we cannot judge them.
- Photos must not have a date stamp in the image.
- Participants may submit up to three photos in each category, for a maximum total of 12 photos.
- By submitting photos to this contest, you agree to SFS’ use of those photos on social media channels, on the SFS website, and in digital and/or printed marketing materials. Credit will be given wherever possible.
