Staff Profile

Andrea is a local, dedicated and accomplished professional with more than 35 years of experience in the tourism industry, sustainability, and environmental protection. She has been a core member of the Blue World Institute since joining the organization in 2003. At which point she managed the focal point of the organization, the Lošinj Marine Education Centre, focusing on educating locals and visitors about marine life and conservation. Andrea is skilled in project management, team leadership, and community engagement. She is passionate about marine conservation and education, with a focus on developing responsible tourism practices. As part of her achievements, she has worked closely with governmental institutions from national to local level, including the Ministry of Tourism, different tourist boards in Croatia, the Institute of Tourism and City of Mali Lošinj to drive projects related to sustainability and environmental conservation. Andrea has led the development of the BWI sustainable Dolphin Watching project, ensuring minimal impact on marine life and the environment, promoting sustainable tourism practices. Other highlights include promoting responsible tourism and sustainable practices within the region, including the realization of the EU project “Destimed,” bringing together 13 protected areas to collectively develop, manage and promote ecotourism in the Mediterranean Basin. As a local to the island of Lošinj, Andrea has committed to supporting the City of Mali Lošinj and Tourist Board on multiple projects related to sustainability, urban planning, and environmental preservation and directly contributed to the city’s development and eco-friendly tourism initiatives. Andrea is a member of working group for the Island Partnership for the creation and monitoring of the implementation of the amendment to the county development plan.
