Staff Profile
Juliann is an environmental educator and program manager. Prior to joining SFS in 2023, she worked at the Alliance for the Great Lakes, Shedd Aquarium, and the Chicago Children’s Museum, honing her expertise in project and program management, experiential learning, and science communication. Juliann holds a Master’s degree in Science Education from DePaul University and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Environmental Science from the College of William and Mary.
Her undergrad experience included two turns through SFS – Turks and Caicos in summer 2007 and Mexico in spring 2008 – which cemented her love of science, conservation, and exploration. A certified diver for over 20 years, Juliann gets in the water whenever she can! Her love of the water began with exploring the creeks and ponds in her hometown in Northeastern Ohio and has led to studying sustainable fisheries in the Caribbean, kayaking with sea lions in the Sea of Cortez, mucking for clams in the Chesapeake Bay, mapping shipwrecks in Lake Erie, and spotting seahorses in Palau. When she’s not in the water, she loves playing board games, reading cookbooks, and fussing with her vegetable garden.
