Staff Profile
Mike’s career in international education began with E.F. Education First U.K. While living in London, he worked with high schools across the U.K. to organize and run international academic excursions throughout Europe. Mike then returned to the U.S. to pursue a master’s degree in Global and International Education at the Ohio State University. After graduate school, Mike worked in the education abroad offices at three universities: as a Study Abroad Coordinator with Ohio State, an Associate Director of International Education with Rollins College in Florida, and as Director of International Education with Oberlin College. Prior to joining SFS, Mike worked in risk management and student health and safety at SIT Study Abroad.
With nearly fifteen years in the field, Mike has a diverse range of experience in international education, including academic advising; recruitment, admissions, and orientation; student conduct and case management; risk assessment, health and safety, and emergency response; study abroad curriculum design; curriculum integration; and faculty-led program development. Mike also has experience working with international internships, as well as field-based research and academic exchange programs. Mike has presented on international education at national and regional conferences and facilitated training workshops with NAFSA Trainer Corps. He is a life-long hockey and soccer fan, loves rock climbing and mountain biking, and during the pandemic he discovered that he is very much a dog person (thank you, Vinny!).
