Staff Profile
Growing up in rural South Africa I fell in love with nature during childhood, always jumping into any water nearby without hesitation. Most of my time was spent outside in the bushveld or fishing on KwaZulu-Natal’s Wild Coast.
During my studies at Stellenbosch University, I volunteered at multiple wildlife game reserves which entailed anti-poaching procedures, animal trekking and conservation efforts, all while living in the bush among the wild.
In search of a bit of nomadic adventure, I became a deckhand and diver onboard private and charter super yachts around the world. I worked my way up to Bosun and obtained my 200GT Captain’s License.
Wanting to dive more, I moved to Koh Tao, Thailand and became a PADI Speciality Scuba Instructor, a First Aid & Emergency Oxygen Provider Instructor with 10 other specialities and an Aqualung Equipment Specialist.
My main hobbies include saltwater fishing, reading and drawing. My research interests are underwater archaeology, shark and sea turtle conservation and marine climate change mitigations.
