Staff Profile
“Hello, my name is Raksa and I am the Program Assistant at SFS Cambodia. I was born in Kampong Chhnang province and moved to Phnom Penh in 2013. There, I completed my bachelor’s degree at Royal University of Agriculture in 2018, specializing in Agronomy. I was also a Student Intern and completed a diploma degree at Tel Hai College, Israel. After my graduation, I got my first job as a research assistant at Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). I worked with a PhD student who came from Edinburg University to conduct research on the Northern Plains Landscape Project, which aimed to study wildlife and bird poisoning in the Preah Vihea province.
I have worked at SFS since 2019. I assist all work done by the faculty members and support students, both at the Center and in the field. In the Fall Semester of 2019, I assisted in the research of students conducting their Directed Research on Proper Solid Waste Management at Kampong Kleang, Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia. My previous research focused on Fluidity and Change in Gendered Courtship Practices Between the Pre-War and Post-War Period on Kulen Mountain in Cambodia. I was very proud to present this research topic at the Center for Khmer Studies (Cambodia) and Association for Asian Studies (AAS Online Conference 2020) in Kobe, Japan.
Currently, I am pursuing my master’s degree in Education of Administration and Leadership at Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia. In my free time, I like reading about environmental news, reading English Newspapers and books to improve my English, cycling to Angkor Wat, and going to the cinema.”
