Staff Profile
I have spent the past 15-20 years working in Asian elephant conservation and management. A Malaysian citizen from Sabah, Borneo, I have lived much of my life in the Lower Kinabatangan where I worked as the Manager of the Elephant Conservation Unit to help protect a population of 200 wild Bornean pygmy elephants from conflict that occurred as a result of the extensive palm oil plantations in the region. More recently I have travelled and lived in many locations, including New Zealand, Australia and throughout Southeast Asia, including Thailand and now Cambodia since 2017. I am very passionate about wildlife conservation and helping students to learn and develop their fieldwork skills, especially to feel comfortable conducting work in the forest. It is incredibly important to me that we pass on our knowledge and skills to the next generation of students so that they too can contribute to being passionate about and helping wildlife! In addition to having a Diploma in Project Management I have also completed a Certificate in Wildlife Management and Forest Restoration Ecology.
